Yes, we all admit that ballet flats are among the cutest and most versatile shoes ever! Team them up with a dainty skirt, a pair of jeans or for a more formal look; ballet flats seem to allow you room to waltz around any outfit! The fashionista that you are, you must already have hauled in the trendiest of the lot; the cap toe flats! They definitely aren't the cheapest to find, you would have found yourself swapping two or more of your favourite lip colours at the supermarket for a pair of these. So go on, splurge on your cosmetics, buy an economical and plain pair of flats, and we will see here how we can really spice it up to give you a stunning cap toe flat! Moreover, the procedure works also if you think to give a new look to an old pair of ballet flats.
Let's first go over what we need:
– plain ballet flats (obviously!);
– painter's tape;
– a ruler;
– a pen;
– spray paint (choose any colour, go wild!).
The simplest way to get the look:
1. From the top of the toe-box, demarcate the area with a pen that you'd like to be 'capped'.
2. Cover the rest of the toe-box with painter's tape.
3. Flip open the spray can and carefully spray over the toe-box.
4. Hey hold it! Allow the paint to dry completely!
5. Peel away the tape.
6. Voila!
Yes, you have all the right to snigger at the friend who just spent a bomb buying those capped flats, while you strut coolly around her, smiling with lips drenched with that well-earned lipstick!

Layering and decorating even boring outfits with some elegant lace can fetch you the look that's got that neighborhood hunk swooning! A couple of in-expensive tricks up your sleeve, some imagination and you are on your way to create some great-looking attire! Here's one way to prep up a simple skirt. Read on!
You will need:
– a monotone skirt, preferably black, to act as your canvas;
– 3 different colored laces (you could add more, but unless you want your skirt from transforming into something right out of a coloring book that got the kids wild, we'd suggest you stick to white, black and one other nice colour);
– board pins;
– a sewing kit.
Let's begin!
1. Lay the laces separately on a flat surface and cut out about 20-25 pieces of each color.
2. Now lay the skirt on the working table.
3. Make layered sets with the cut-out lace pieces and place the sets at a distance from each other on the surface of the skirt.
4. Pin them up so that they retain their place.
5. Sew these cut-outs onto the skirt and remove the pins (Patience! Your patterned skirt is just about getting ready!
6. Turn the skirt around and work in the same way.
7. That's it!
Time to pair it with a stunning blouse, some fancy boots or girly ballet flats, and sashay down the street! You'll tire of the constant adoring gazes!

A designer at heart, you are super talented with frame, form, colour and are a complete wiz at design. You see fashion in the colors on that dew-laden leaf and in the fur on the dog who just walked by. You have arranged all the tools to create and sew yourself that perfect dress that has kept you from sleeping for days on end. But what's the perfect dress without the perfect fit? That's when you need your very own dress form!
Consider making a dummy of yourself (nah, that's not what I am trying to get at, read the whole thing!), that can help make your dress fit like a dream…sounds tough eh? But, here is an ingenious way that you can go about doing it, nice and easy. You'll need to ask a friend to help you with this one!
Checklist:
– some loose cotton or pillow filling;
– scissors (the tongue ain't enough!);
– some rolls of broad width tape;
– a metal base (yeah, that lamp needed to be discarded anyway, so cut the shade out and lo and behold!);
– cardboard;
– a long tee-shirt (make sure it's your least favourite, as this is the last time you'd be wearing it!);
– some foil.
Get, set and roll:
1. Wear the t-shirt and cover the exposed parts of the neck with a foil
2. Ask your friend to start covering the entire length and breadth of the t-shirt with the tape. Make sure that the entire t-shirt, along with neck area with the foil protection is fully covered. You could start with taking the tape around the waist and then criss-crossing it over the body. You should ideally look like a mummy.
3. Cut the 'mummy-case' from the back, from end-to-end all the way from the hip up till the neck.
4. After removing from the body, tape the cut end back up, so that you have a hollow shell of yourself (spooky!)
5. Stuff this shell with the cotton and pillow stuffing.
6. Push the metal base through it.
7. And….drums rolling…..Voila! You've got your very own dress form!
So now, enjoy making your dress, and don't forget to pitch in one for your dear helpful friend!

Maybe you can make this for yourself, or pass it on as a gift, the best thing is, that a handmade trinket is often much more valuable, as it is also reminiscent of the love and sentiments. You would remember for years later, who made this gift especially for you, or the time you spent making it with your sisters and friends! So, here's how to craft your very own head-band, which is elegant and pretty!
You will need:
– a brooch, embellishment, or any other decorative item that you'd like to make as the centerpiece;
– a strong piece of ribbon that does not fray out on being cut;
– scissors;
– glue gun;
– tulle.
Let's get to work! Directions:
1. Begin by cutting out leaf shaped pieces from the tulle and ribbon.
2. Apply some glue at the back of your decorative piece.
3. Stick the leaf shaped pieces in the way you would like.
4. Again, apply glue at the back.
5. Press a thin long strip of tulle to this, to serve as the head-band.
6. Place the head-piece on your hair and tie the loose ends of the tulle to secure.
Oh my, that surely looks pretty on you! So you see, how easily you can win hearts, with just some DIY magic!

Shoes… It's that one word that gets so many of us drooling! Stuck to that display window, with our mouths agape, we have been whisked away numerous times, only to find ourselves in that shop again, finally owning that pair that took our breaths away at first glance! And then there has to be a shoe for the office, for that evening out, for Sunday brunch, for walking the dog, for when you are sad, for when you are happy and oh, the shoe must compliment the dress too! All said and done, we all have an overflowing shoe-rack, with another one on its way and yet another one in the pipeline. That's what we have to say about our shoes.
