Oily, or greasy skin type is pretty common regardless where you live or if you're a man or a woman. Thus, there are tons of ways people deal with greasy skin. For example, some people may encourage you to wash your face as often as possible. Some others may suggest a certain product that is said to suppress your sebum, or the natural oil produced by your body.
If your oily skin causes you to feel frustrated at times, relax. You're not alone. Oily skin can be frustrating; especially if you start having breakouts or if your makeup just can't seem to stay. But still, over-drying your skin is not the answer. It doesn't mean that you should just give up and live with the fact that there's nothing you can do – it is possible to deal with greasy skin the right way! There are several things you can do.
1. Always have blotting sheets ready

They're pretty handy, they can fit in your bags, and they're not that expensive. And if you invest in a good one, they won't remove your makeup, so you don't have to constantly retouch your makeup. They remove the shine instantly, and although it's not a permanent solution to the problem, you can certainly rely on blotting sheets when the situation calls for it.
2. Make sure that you don't wash your face too often

Sure, it can be tempting to wash your face every time you feel the grease builds up. But doing so is actually counterproductive, since your body will recognize the lack of natural grease and ends up producing more oil in order to sustain the skin's moisture.
3. Choose your skin products carefully

And no, it's not just about your skincare products. Have you ever taken a look at your makeup products? Have you ever considered switching to products that are especially made for oily skin? Products that are non-comedogenic are designed to prevent clogged pores, so it can also prevent zits caused by sebum build-up.
Choosing skin products also means you'd need to pay attention to what cleanser, sunscreen, and moisturizer you're using. To clean your face you can use a charcoal face cleanser or a peel-off mask. Many are tempted to give up on moisturizer all together, but this is not the right thing to do! The science behind it is pretty simple; just like over-washing your face can cause it to dry and ended up producing more oil, not moisturizing your skin can send your body an alarm that will make it produce, again, excessive oil.
4. Learn to do your makeup the right way

It's possible to look good with makeup on even if your skin excretes oil, as long as you know the do's and the don'ts. First, don't keep on adding layers of powder to your face. Doing so seems like the easy way out to greasy skin problem, but you don't want to end up looking cakey. Only use powder after you blot the oil away using the blotting sheets.
Also, instead of getting right to doing your makeup, apply oil-control primer. It might cost you extra, but it's definitely a better investment rather than just keep on dabbing more makeup products and abusing your pores. Once you're done with your makeup, set the makeup using makeup setting spray. Not only it will make sure your makeup stays, it can also hydrates your skin.
