If you're looking for the perfect destination for your next vacation, Austin may not be the first place on your mind. However, with so much to do in this incredible city, it's no wonder that over 25 million people visit here each year. You may even find yourself never wanting to leave! Here are some of the most fun things to do next time you're in Austin.
Blanton Museum of Art
This museum is on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, and is one of the largest university museums in the country. Even so, it's quite petite compared to non-university museums, but size doesn't matter in this case. It has some incredible exhibits you need to check out. While some come and go, their permanent collection offers over 18,000 pieces of European artwork, as well as American and Latin American art. You'll be sure to have an unforgettable experience.

Mayfield Park
Even though it's located in the center of a big city, Mayfield Park is a perfect natural oasis where you can escape the sounds of the city. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a day in this beautiful natural setting. You can even catch a glimpse at one of the many peacocks that roam the grounds. Bet you didn't think you'd see that in Austin!
Music Festivals
Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin is full of incredible festivals and performances all year long. Some of the most famous music festivals are held here each year, such as Austin City Limits, Levitation, and the most comprehensive festival of all, SXSW. SXSW is more than just any festival, it's actually a conference that includes film and comedy, as well as many other components. If music is your thing, Austin is the perfect destination for you.
Night Life
For a night out without the kids, head to The White Horse for a true southern honky tonk experience. Here, you'll find a unique group of people from all different walks of life, young and old, enjoying the authentic dive bar experience. If you want to keep the party going all night, check out Austin's Old 6th Street historic district. This area is broken into three parts – East, West, and Dirty. Dirty 6th Street, as it's fondly known, is the entertainment hub of the area and the best place to find eclectic bars and clubs.
Barton Springs Municipal Pool
When you hear the phrase "municipal pool," you may picture a small, in-ground public pool crowded with families. At Barton Springs, this is not the case. This "pool" is a natural attraction, fed from underground springs, and measures three acres in size.
It is an iconic piece of Austin to a countless number of locals, where many first learned how to swim. It is also the destination of over a million tourists each year who come out to see this natural wonder for themselves. After seeing it in person, you may never want to leave. Check out some Austin real estate before you make the decision to head back home – Austin may end up being the perfect place for you.
